Why I Teach

I love to learn, so that is why I started to teach. There are so many more reasons now that I teach. Each year the reasons grow. The main reason now is the people I get to meet, be friends with, travel with, and grow with.
The experiences from line dancing alone are an amazing time. What I get from teaching is a whole other experience and it's one where I get to give more than get. A passion for learning, I get to spread, a passion for dance, I get to lead, a need for an expanded social life, I get to create a space. I will forever be grateful for all the people I have met and will meet in this community, it has changed my life and I hope it changes someone else's life the way it has mine.
When you see that light go on in someone's eyes when they get it. When someone comes up and says that they didn't get that dance until you taught it to them because you could reach them the way they needed. When one person comes up and says what a great job you did and how it made them feel amazing. When you watch the shy ones come out of their shell. When you see the confident ones grow and help others grow too. When you see that student emerge as an instructor. When you see that person struggling to be fit start to keep up with the hard dances and reach their goals. When you see that single parent get to bring their kid(s) to class and not only get a social life for themself, but their kid(s) thrives and grows as well in a village they were missing before. The list goes on and on. For every reason to dance is a reason to teach and I, like most instrutors, see the beauty in all of it and enjoy every moment.
